Structural Engineering Companies are developing astounding buildings at every corner of the world. Let’s take a look at some of these great construction works. Astounding buildings around the world
The pride of Dubai, The Burj Khalifa is at a height of 2,717 feet. This massive structure has 162 floors and costs around $1.5 billion. Structural architecture requires huge applause and appreciation. It can house 30000 flats, 19 towers, nine wonderful hotels, and other recreational areas. It is the most famous among the astounding buildings around the world.
Tokyo Sky Tree
As the name suggests, Tokyo is the home to Tokyo Sky tree which is 2080 feet high. It is a broadcasting and observation tower. Tokyo Sky tree is also home to famous restaurants and is also famous for its earthquake resistance. The construction got over on 29 February 2012.
Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China
Shanghai Tower is the tallest skyscraper in China. It was originally scheduled to be opened to all by June 2015, however, this has not happened and most of the buildings are still not open. The tower has an observation deck which was opened on 1 July 2016. This is the world’s highest observation deck at 561.25 m. The estimated cost of construction was US$2.4 billion.
Guangzhou TV and Sightseeing Tower or Canton Tower
The Canton Tower was formerly known as Guangzhou TV Astronomical and Sightseeing Tower. At 2001 feet, this huge structure is a multipurpose observation tower located in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou. The 2010 Asian Games were held here following its inauguration on 29 September 2010. The tower is famous for its twisted shape or in other words hyperboloid structure.
Abraj Al-Bait Towers
Situated in Saudi Arabia with a height of 1,972 feet, the Abraj Al-Bait Towers is a great source of pride for the country. This is a complex of seven skyscraper hotels in Mecca. It is owned by the Government of Saudi Arabia. There were international issues involved with the construction of these astounding buildings as they replaced Ajyad Fortress, the 18th-century Ottoman citadel. Above all, this is now the tallest building in Saudi Arabia.
Built by the Canadian National Railways in 1976, this 1,815 feet high structure is a piece of art in itself. It is a public company under Canada Lands Company (CLC) Limited, a crown corporation. The total construction cost came to $63 million. The tower was completed on February 22, 1974, and it took 1,537 workers to bring up this structure. The broadcasting facilities include UHF, VHF television, fixed-mobile systems, FM Radio, and microwave transmissions.
This tower situated in Moscow was the tallest free-standing structure in the whole world until 2003. It has a height of 1,772 feet. The tower caught fire on 27 August 2000. Three people were killed and both television and radio signals were disrupted. However, due to efficient construction and planning, the evacuation was done in 90 minutes.
Located in Taiwan, Taipei is 1,667 feet high. It is a 101 storeyed skyscraper. It also houses one of the world’s fastest elevator. Moreover, the building is resistant to earthquakes and typhoons. In addition to that, there is a mall that includes a supermarket at the bottom which is a favorite place for visitors.
International Commerce Centre
Hong Kong is proud of its world-famous skyscraper. The International Commerce Centre is 1.588 feet tall and houses a shopping mall, the highest hotel in the world: Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong as well as a 101st-floor restaurant. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) (the American architectural firm) along with Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd, the tower has 108 floors above ground and 4 underground.
Oriental Pearl Tower
The Oriental Pearl Tower is located at the tip of Lujiazui in the Pudong district in China. It is 1,535 feet tall and is a famous TV tower. In 2007, it gained popularity by hosting the Chinese Live Earth concert. With 15 observatory levels, this tower also includes exhibition facilities, a small shopping center and also a 20-room hotel called the Space Hotel.
